001. Jerusalem. History of the three world religions

Program Description

We will start the tour on the Mount of Olives, where the most famous and most publicized panoramas of this eternal city can be seen. You will see Jewish, Christian and Islamic shrines, the names of which are familiar from childhood to almost all of us: the Temple Mount, the Dome over the Rock, the Mosque of El Aqza, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Let’s go into the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed the last night before his arrest and where he was captured by the servants of the high priest Caiaphas. We will walk in procession along the Via Dolorosa, the last path of Christ. We will ascend Golgotha and consecrate things on the anointing stone at the most important place for Christians around the world: the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. You will learn how representatives of the six denominations of the Christian Church exist peacefully within this temple. And who has been entrusted with opening and closing the doors of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre every day for 836 years.

We will visit Mount Zion and the room of the Last Supper or the upper room of Zion. Stop by King David’s tomb, where you will learn the history of King Solomon’s Temple, from the Tablets of the Covenant, to the scapegoat. We’ll walk through the Jewish, Christian and Armenian neighborhoods. Stand on the ancient Roman street of Cardo, which once crossed the city from north to south from Damascus Gate to Zion Gate.

We will see the painted doors of Jewish synagogues and touch the stones of the Wailing Wall, where you can put a note with your deepest wish, because it will be a personal message to God.
